Conflicts Advisor

We’re working with an international law firm advising on complex transactions, intellectual property and regulatory matters, and high-stakes litigation to appoint a Conflicts Advisor in London. You’ll assess and resolve conflicts relating to new business and candidate clearances, working closely with lawyers and colleagues to support ethical, timely decisions across the firm.

You’ll have at least four years’ consecutive conflicts analysis experience, alongside three years’ legal experience, and a track record of handling complex matters at a senior analyst level. The firm is seeking strong legal and corporate research skills, sound judgement and analytical ability, and clear communication. Experience with conflicts systems and knowledge of professional conduct rules are also required.

The responsibilities will include:

• Analyse and process routine and complex conflicts requests relating to new business and candidate clearances.

• Prepare database search terms and reports, including for high-volume searches, and research parties to confirm their identities.

• Review reports and supporting documents to identify potential conflicts and other issues.

• Interpret findings and explain the conflicts landscape clearly to lawyers and other colleagues.

• Liaise with partners and responsible attorneys to investigate concerns, discuss potential issues and propose resolutions.

• Keep relevant colleagues updated and maintain clear records of analysis and responses.

• Request waivers where consent is required, confirm conflicts are resolved, and draft waivers and engagement letters as needed.

• Advise on complex requests, conflicts policies and intake procedures, and support colleagues in resolving issues promptly and ethically.

• Draft and implement ethical screens, and conduct research into case law, legal ethics, trends and policy or process improvements.

• Deliver conflicts training and provide guidance and mentorship to analysts, lawyers and other staff.
