Financial Crime Lawyer

We are working with a leading international law firm to appoint a Financial Crime Lawyer in London. This newly created role will provide high-level advice on anti-money laundering, sanctions and financial crime risk, while supporting the development of effective systems, controls, policies and training across a complex, cross-border environment.

The firm is looking for a qualified lawyer with experience in an AML-focused compliance role and a proven track record of managing complex financial crime matters. You will bring strong stakeholder-management, drafting and communication skills, alongside commercial judgement, sound organisation and the confidence to advise senior colleagues.

The responsibilities will include:

• Providing high-level legal advice on financial crime risk at matter and client inception.

• Managing and supporting internal investigations involving complex AML and sanctions matters.

• Working with Financial Crime Managers to provide expert escalation and management support.

• Acting as a trusted adviser to Partners and other stakeholders, offering pragmatic solutions to regulatory challenges.

• Supporting the MLRO and MLCO with financial crime policies, procedures and related requirements.

• Supporting external audits, annual reporting and information requests concerning financial crime.

• Designing and delivering firm-wide AML and customer due diligence training.

• Reviewing Analysts’ work for quality assurance and maintaining high standards of legal rigour.

• Mentoring and providing technical guidance to Analysts, Advisors and Managers.

• Contributing to financial crime projects and the wider development of the risk and compliance function.

• Providing ad hoc out-of-hours support, including weekends, on critical AML matters.
