About the Role
We are working with an international law firm to hire a Risk Lawyer in London. In this role, you will support the Head of Risk in protecting the firm’s international operations, ensuring that partners and employees remain aligned with complex global regulatory frameworks.
The firm is looking for a qualified solicitor with at least two years of experience within a large law firm environment, either in an internal risk function or a commercial fee-earning role.
The responsibilities will include:
- Providing proactive legal and regulatory advice to practice groups and business services teams across the firm’s international network.
- Developing, maintaining, and updating the firm's risk management policies, guidance notes, and procedures.
- Reviewing and negotiating supplier agreements, with a specific focus on onboarding new technology providers.
- Handling data protection compliance matters, including the management of subject access requests and potential data breaches.
- Advising on outside counsel terms and negotiating client-requested amendments to the firm’s Standard Terms of Business.
- Serving as a key escalation point on complex conflicts of interest and financial sanctions issues.
- Designing and delivering face-to-face and virtual risk training sessions to partners and employees.
- Monitoring global regulatory developments to ensure the business is prepared for significant legislative changes.
- Supporting cross-functional firm-wide projects and managing day-to-day risk queries from the team inbox.
They are looking for candidates with a working knowledge of the SRA Standards and Regulations, UK GDPR, and the Bribery Act. You should be a confident communicator who can influence stakeholders at all levels of seniority and translate complex legal requirements into practical, accurate guidance.
