Originally qualified as a corporate solicitor, this candidate has spent the majority of their legal career specialising in professional ethics, risk management and regulatory compliance within the legal sector. With a robust background in both fee-earning and in-house risk roles, this individual brings a well-rounded and commercially astute perspective to complex compliance issues.

In their current position at a leading top 50 UK law firm, this candidate works closely with the General Counsel, advising on a wide range of regulatory, contractual and commercial risk matters. They take a proactive lead on negotiating client terms, supplier contracts, panel documentation and NDAs, as well as advising on privacy, data protection, and conflicts. They have played a key role in the firm’s GDPR compliance and manage risk training across the business. This role also includes overseeing junior team members and contributing to firmwide risk and compliance strategy at management level.

Key Competencies:

• Extensive experience advising on client terms, engagement letters, and panel documentation
• Strong expertise in negotiating supplier agreements across operational functions
• Proven track record in GDPR implementation and handling subject access requests
• Skilled in advising on legal and commercial conflicts under both UK and US rules
• Proficient in SRA regulatory frameworks, including Codes of Conduct and continuing competence
• Depth of experience in anti-money laundering, confidentiality and disclosure
• Experienced in risk policy drafting and delivering firmwide compliance training
