About the Role
We are working with a leading international law firm to hire a Conflicts Attorney I. In this role, you will join a growing and dynamic department dedicated to managing the firm’s global new business intake, lateral hiring, and broad risk management programmes.
The firm is seeking a legally qualified professional with a Juris Doctor and an active U.S. law license who can confidently identify, analyze, and resolve ethical and commercial conflicts of interest.
They are looking for candidates with a minimum of two years of relevant experience within a large international law firm conflicts department, or alternatively, two years of experience practicing law as a commercial Associate. You must be highly proficient in Intapp conflicts checking software and possess the exceptional critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills required to advise senior stakeholders under tight deadlines.
The responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and processing complex new business and lateral hire requests utilizing advanced internal databases and corporate research tools.
- Analyzing comprehensive conflict search results against the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and specific firm risk policies.
- Preparing detailed conflict reports for firm lawyers and proposing practical, commercially sound resolutions to clear business intake.
- Drafting and reviewing critical risk documents, including client engagement letters, conflict waivers, and ethical wall memoranda.
- Conducting targeted legal research into state-by-state professional conduct rules, evolving case law, and cross-border jurisdictional issues.
- Advising firm lawyers, partners, and the Assistant General Counsel directly on sensitive ethics questions and conflict clearance strategies.
- Maintaining the integrity of the firm’s central conflicts database by ensuring thorough documentation of all waivers and risk resolutions.
- Providing peer training and technical support to junior conflicts analysts to foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Participating in after-hours and weekend on-call coverage to handle urgent, time-sensitive transactional clearance requests.
