About the Role

We are working with a leading international law firm to recruit a Risk & Compliance Manager based in London. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the firm’s risk and compliance function, working closely with senior management to ensure all regulatory requirements are met while enabling smooth business operations. You will oversee daily compliance activitiesl including client and matter due diligence, supplier onboarding, and assist with investigations, insurance claims, and client complaints resolution. Providing practical risk and compliance advice to internal teams and liaising with legal advisors will also form a key part of your responsibilities.

Our client is seeking a candidate with at least five years’ experience in a risk and compliance role within a regulated law firm environment. Strong knowledge of SRA regulations and AML compliance, particularly around KYC/CDD, conflicts, and sanctions, is essential.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing daily risk and compliance processes, including client onboarding and supplier engagement
  • Escalating complex issues appropriately 
  • Advising colleagues on compliance matters aligned with regulatory and policy requirements
  • Assisting in reviewing and enhancing the firm’s risk and compliance framework
  • Supporting policy development and delivering compliance training to staff
  • Monitoring regulatory developments and communicating their impact to the business
  • Collaborating with other departments to manage investigations and resolve compliance issues
  • Leading and contributing to risk and compliance projects with clear planning and stakeholder updates
  • Providing cover and support across the risk and compliance team as needed

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills, a confident and composed approach to stakeholder management, and a strong focus on delivering effective solutions. Attention to detail, organisational capability, and a collaborative mindset are also key attributes. Experience with compliance databases and training junior team members is advantageous.
